Pupil Premium
What is Pupil Premium?
Pupil Premium is government funding, which is allocated to schools in England to raise the educational attainment of disadvantaged pupils of all abilities and to help them reach their potential. It also provides support for children and young people whose parents or guardians are in the armed forces.
Who is eligible for Pupil Premium?
To apply for Free School Meals (FSM) in Derbyshire, you need to apply through Derbyshire County Council (DCC), as schools manage the uptake, but the application goes through the council. You'll need to provide details to see if you meet the income-based criteria (like Income Support or Universal Credit) to get meals for older kids (Years 3+) and potentially extra pupil premium funding for schools.
How much is Pupil Premium?
For the 2025-26 financial year in England, schools receive £1,515 for each primary pupil or FSM Ever 6 child; an additional £2,630 is given for each pupil who is, or has been, looked after by a local authority; and £350 per child with parents or guardians in the armed forces.
What is the funding spent on?
